DANNY WARD
Danny Ward’s easy going humour is up-beat and well honed and his high energy style both endearing and very funny. Danny started comedy in late 2008 and after a fabulous Edinburgh in 2010 has established himself as one of the up and coming comics to watch.
”If there is better stand up elsewhere for free then I want to know about it, because it really would have to be world class to top this show. (Three Weeks, 4 stars, Edinburgh Festival Aug 2010)
“Danny Ward clicked with the capacity crowd immediately and his brilliantly-timed, slightly manic approach was bolstered by some really tight, strong material. His often hilarious riffs on everyday shopping at discount stores created a thread that worked brilliantly throughout, with a killer ending”. (Bournemouth Echo, Oct 2010)
Black Country comic Sean Percival is an ex-welder from Dudley (“It’s a lovely place to come from but bloody horrible to go back to”) whose down to earth comedy steers clear of the surreal and confronts realism in an explosively funny way. An established headliner, Sean is one of the busiest acts on the circuit and has recently returned from entertaining the troops abroad.
“…the big gold star of the show must be the long-haired man from Dudley. He came. He spoke. He had us curled up begging for more” (Evening Mail TV)
“Sean’s humour is not surreal, it’s not wacky, it’s just bloody funny. This is not smile humour, this is bust your gut rubber underpants stuff” (What’s On)
“Absolutely brilliant – can we book him for our Christmas show please” (Red Card Comedy, Norwich)
And Back by popular demand, our brilliant and sharp-witted compere, SALLY-ANNE HEYWARD
Bristolian Sally combines the things you shouldn’t like about your best friend’s mum with the sensibilities of Jack the Ripper. She grew up to reject dizzy incompetence and feminine wiles for a disarming mix of ingratiating charm and unsettling pugnacity that gets more laughs than a hyena’s dawn rally. ‘… really captured the room with a warm and edgy charm, quick wit, and a disarming ability to be friendly and taunting at the same time – all to very comedic effect!’ (BBC)
“Sally has one of the most likable onstage presences on the circuit and some truly brilliant routines!” (Chortle.co.uk)
Our open spots this week will be filled by Steph Lane - a Bristol-based act whose set mainly consists of one liners with a couple of stories. “Superbly crafted gags, sharp one liners and clever wordplay in an expertly structured set. Steph Lane is a VERY good joke writer.” – Trevor Lock (a comic).
Danny Wright – formerly one half of a very successful double act called Electric Forecast (your kids might know them as Big Cook Little Cook), Danny has gone solo in the last year and is already doing weekends at The Kings Head and Up the Creek in London.
Any budding comedians are urged to get in touch for future open mics.
